A light AV – Eset Nod32
you can only run one AV.
Eset Nod32 is lighter than the following:
Kaspersky
AVG (heavy on the CPU)
Avast (not as light as Avira)
Avira (light on the CPU but not as light as Eset Nod32)
Norton (heavy on the CPU)

Sometimes it’s trial and error to see what Anti Virus program is best for your computer. I would give Avast a try see link.

Make sure you completely uninstall Bitdefender, I would Google Remove Bitdenfender as all these program types can have special uninstall procedures.

All real-time anti-malware programs are going to slow your computer down, how much depends on what they are scanning in real-time.
For example, on this computer, I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed. Every time I start a new program, whether on the Internet or not, the program takes several seconds more to begin running than it did on a computer that had no anti-malware program at all. For example, CCleaner takes over 5 seconds to get its screen up.
But that’s only for the first run. If I start CCleaner a second time, the program pops up immediately.
Every web page takes a little longer to load, even though I turned off all the gimmicks in Internet Explorer 8 and the reporting features in MSE. As the web page sends files to my computer, the MSE program is analyzing each file for malware. The depth of the analysis determines how slow the page is going to load, and I have no idea exactly what analysis is going on.
I also have the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave Player. Some pages with Flash that used to load fast now load slower, I figure Flash Player is the cause. But I also have seen advertising here on Yahoo Answers – the Ambien ad – always turns my computer into a slug; something is that ad is badly programmed, and it’s been that way for a year ! Open two pages with that ad and my computer is almost unusable for over a minute, I have to close one of the windows that has that ad to be able to do anything on any other page.

The problem with slow computers is that most of the time. It’s all to do with a hidden part of your system which hardly anyone knows about. This part of your system is called the ‘registry’ and is a huge database which stores all the settings and options for your PC.The reason why the registry is responsible for making your computer run slow is because it is actually prone to getting corrupt and damaged. Because Windows is constantly using the database when you’re using your computer, it’s constantly got 100’s of registry files open. This unfortunately means that Windows gets confused, leading it to save the registry files wrong, making them incredibly difficult for your computer to read. Think of them as files which are all jumbled up, making your computer have to spend longer to read them. There’s an easy way to fix this and make it run as fast as it would if it were new. You just need to be able to clean out all the damaged files from the registry, allowing Windows to read all the files it needs, when it needs them. And to do this, you just need to use a tool called a ‘registry cleaner’.I should like to commend Registry Easy to you !http://make-computer-run-smoothly.com
