How do I gain muscle without gaining a lot of fat?
I’m very skinny and have been trying to put on some muscle the past couple of months. I’ve been working out consistently (3 times a week) and have also been eating more than I used to. I’ve gained about 7 pounds over this time, but it seems like most of it is in fat. What am I doing wrong?

You gotta have fat to turn into muscle! Keep working at it. You’ll get there!

If you’re weightlifting, try combining it with some cardio (something to get your heart rate up). That’s what burns the fat. And don’t eat more unless a) it’s healthy and b) you’re actually hungry!

probaly nothing
but i’ve heard that when you eat and you exersize,
the exersize turns the fat into muscle

What you’re doing wrong is you’re probably doing less reps per exercise than you should. Do more reps on less weight and you’ll see the difference. Work out 4 or 5 times a week, if you have a fast metabolism and are skinny, your body can handle more workload and actually NEEDS more workload to put on muscle weight.
If you don’t mind taking pills every day then take creatine, that’ll make sure you make muscle and not fat when you eat.

you need to eat a lot of lean protien, do cardio at least 5 times a week, and strength training at least 3 times a week. Stay away from trans fats and fast food. Don’t eat too many carbs but definitely include them in your diet.

Nothing, eat healthy and excersize about half an hour a day then it will work better i think. Not just 3 times a week. Good Luck! 🙂

Eat quality proteins balanced with complex carbs. My nutritionist recommended eating more times but smaller amounts throughout the day especially before and after workouts. (remember small amounts though) And like everyone has said to build muscle you have to exercises and for men it usually involves intensive weight training. Hope all goes well for you.

It’s probably in the way your working out. First, add aroebic excersize (I run 7 miles a week) because I read somewhere that this is vital in keeping muscle. Also, when you work out, do more repititions with less weight, as this builds strength instead of muscle mass (which can become fat quickly). And the most important tip is to drink A LOT OF WATER; Depriving yourself of water is one of the most unhealthy things you can do. I hope this helps you out, and if you still aren’t getting results I would suggest going to a local gym a talking to a professional trainer.
