It takes a LOT of practice. But if I can do it, you can do it. Just work on it.

It was hard for me at first, but then it got easier as I started to understand it more. Now, Im actually supposed to start teaching .. crazy eh ? 🙂

Depends; if you have a lot of free time, then yeah. If you want to just pick it up and play it immediately, don’t count on it.
It’s amazingly fun, though. I’d recommend getting an instructor who has many years’ experience behind him/her. I’d have given up after a two months if not for my instructor.
Also, just learn the basic chords and scales first, then you’ll feel like you can play anything. While it is a lot more difficult than just playing three chords, I found it to be quite an esteem-booster when I learned to go from G to D to Cadd9 to Em. Simple chords that sound beautifully.
Persistence is the key here. That’s all. Just be patient and you’ll do fine.

    Angel,

It can be very easy if you have the right motivation. It can take just a few weeks to learn the basics. You can get the right motivation by having FUN. Punchline: You can learn easily.

Here’s how to learn and have fun at the same time:

    1. First make a short list of your favorite pop/rock (or any genre) songs. Maybe 10.
    2. Look up chords for these on the web.
    3. Pick out the one with the fewest number of chords
    4. Look up those chords and learn how to finger them
    5. Play that song every day for a week or two, and you’ll KNOW those chords by heart.
    6. Rinse and Repeat

I know a website that has more details and learning techniques. The link is below.

    Good Luck Learning to Play,
    John
