How can I loose about 30 pounds as quickly as possible?
I had a baby 6 1/2 months ago and I lost all the weight I had gained in like two weeks. I still want to loose about 30 pounds though. I don’t have access to a gym however I do have a treadmill at home. Can anyone give me any tips or ideas? And I can’t run because of knee issues.
Thanks so much!

What’s your hurry? Healthy weight loss can only proceed at about a pound each week. What you shed using radical diets in a short time is always replaced in the months following the diet.
Soooo…take a slow steady approach. You’ll have to count calories, and that’s a drag, but if you don’t know what’s going in, you can’t control them. If you restrict your caloric intake to between 1200 and 1500 calories per day, and do about 45 minutes on the treadmill most days, you can lose about a pound a week. That’s 50 lbs per year…which should be fast enough for anyone.

Don’t confuse the weight loss immediately after labour with fat loss. While pregnant, you increase your volume of blood, your uterus grows from the size of a pear to the size of a watermelon, etc. The weight loss you have shortly after labour is not the loss of fat but your body returning to normal. I only say this so you don’t have the same expectations on losing the next 30lbs which will happen slower.
2lbs a week is a reasonable and healthy rate – but still requires quite a bit of effort. Aim to eat 1500 calories per day from a balance of foods (make sure you get plenty of veggies – something many people don’t get enough of, and not too many grains such as pasta, bread etc). Aim to get 30-40 minutes of physical activity most days of the week. If you need to work up to that amount that’s fine – start out with 15 minutes of walking if you have to.

I had my baby March 29th, so about the same time as you! I have lost 95 lbs. since then! I’ve done it by only eating food that is grown. So unless it’s protein, dairy, grains, fruit or vegetables I don’t eat it. I also exercise as much as possible. I know it’s hard to exercise with small kids at home but it is possible. I don’t have a gym membership either so I just created my own gym at home. I live in an upstairs apartment so while my kids are napping I take the baby monitor with me and run or walk up and down the stairs as long as I can. I also, do squats while I do laundry. Do lunges while I walk. Do Pilate’s whenever I get a chance. Winsor Pilate’s has a really good DVD. Another great thing to try is park your car as far a way from the store as you can when you’re shopping so you get a little more exercise. It is possible to lose that thirty pounds. You just have to have self control and move as much as possible.

I am currently using the South Beach Diet & have lost 12.5 pounds since 9/1/09. I don’t like to consider it a diet though because it teaches the importance of proper nutrition & is to be considered as a life style change not a quick fix. It has phase 1, which is the most restrictive but only last for 2 weeks, phase 2 you reintroduce fruits & whole grain breads & pastas, phase 3 is where you apply all that you’ve learned for the rest of your life. We purchased our first 3 books through Amazon.com for $40.00 including shipping.
Hope this helps & good luck!!!
