You will need a list of things to do, how many people are you going to invite, your budget and theme. You can bookmark the website below to help you in your progress it has everything you need.

How gracious and generous of you! And what a pleasure for you as well.
First speak to the bride and groom and tell them that you would like to host a reception in their honour on their return, and agree on a time and date. If you like, you may ask them to suggest some number of guests and ask them to provide the proper names and addresses of those guests, whom *you* will then invite. You do not need to do this, especially if you have many mutual friends and know their immediate family.
Once you have your date and time, you simply choose an appropriate style of entertaining: afternoon reception, cocktail party, dinner, dance — and find a suitable place to hold it. Reserve the location, and make arrangements for the food. Most gracious of all is to hold it in your own home or in a community or club reception-room, but you can rent a hall or reserve a restaurant or hotel.
Send invitations to your guests.
If it is to be a sit-down meal, you will then need to plan menus and seating plans, and if you plan to have dancing you will need to make arrangements for music which could be a live ensemble, DJ, or recorded playlist.
Once you have food, drink, a location and entertainment planned, just welcome your guests and have a lovely time.

If you want her input, find out the basic info like her style, favorite colors, anything special that she would want to see at her reception. Otherwise, just get a checklist of things to do in planning a reception and go to town using whatever ideas you think she’d like.

You are a very nice friend!
I presume this is not going to be a “surprise.” I am thinking not.
So…you should first ask her about a guest list. That is the first place to start.
~ Make up some invitations. These do not need to be fancy. You can buy blank invites at places like Michael’s, Target, etc. Or….just print something up on fancy paper such as this:

~ Decide what you want to serve. You can do something easy like a BBQ. OR…make up finger sandwiches and serve with cold salads. OR….make up a big pan of pasta and serve with garlic bread and a salad, etc.
~ Possibly order a cake. OR, make up a “dessert tray” with various desserts.
~ Have enough beverages. You don’t need to serve alcohol if you choose not to.
~ That’s about it. Obviously, you will want to make sure you have enough room (for the amount of people); decide if you need to rent tables/chairs and/or silverware, etc. OR….if you are going casual, you can always use the clear plastic plates you can buy at Walmart or Target.
Really, it’s up to you (and your friend) how you want to proceed with this. Again, you are a generous friend!

for accessories for bridal, better you find a elegant dress. for me, i suggested she wear a wrist corsage to look more classic and exclusive.
