What kind of supplement should I take to help build muscle and not gain weight?
I’ll be honest, I go to the gym 3-4 times per week but don’t always work out hard. If it’s too packed I usually just do cardio and leave, although most of the time i do lift. Also, I should tell you that I don’t eat very healthy and probably eat a high calorie diet. I want to gain muscle, which I have not done at all in the 4 months I have been working out. Do you think Whey Protein, Muscle Milk, etc. will help or do you think I would just gain weight? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Lots and Lots of protein at least a half an hour after u work out should do the trick.

Just adding protein to your diet will NOT increase your muscle mass… they can only provide fuel to your body, which your muscles can use to work. If you don’t use the energy you get from protein (or sugar, or any other energy product), your body will convert it and store it as fat.
In order to increase muscle mass, you MUST work your muscles enough. Cardio works your heart and lungs (which is a very good minimum), but it would really build your muscles up much aside from endurance. If you want to build mass, you MUST do more lifting and hard working of your muscles.
For the past year or so, I’ve been doing light workouts, riding my bike, and lifting some dumbbells I have at home. For the past 2 months, I’ve been taking Tae Kwon Do classes and working my butt off in every one of the classes. I go to the classes as often as I can (which ends up being about 3 times a week), and in the past 2 months, I’ve noticed at LEAST 2-3 times the progress (in muscle mass and endurance) than I’ve made in the entire year before I started. As the old adage is, “you reap what you sow”…. if you don’t work at building your muscle mass, you won’t build it.

The best thing you can do to gain muscle is to work out HARD. If you just go through the motions and that is all you want to do, don’t even bother with the protein. If you go to the gym 3-4 times and do workout, you’re already on the right path. Go the extra and try to add weight or more reps. If you can do this and keep it up, then go for protein. Whey Protein is my vote. Add some to water or milk right before and / or right after your workout…Do this and train like an animal, and you get the muscle you want !

old time kid hit the nail on the head!! you must weight train your muscles with enough intensity to grow.. consistency and hard work are paramount.. a decent diet with enough carbs and protein is all you need to go along with it.. better diet will yield better results but only if you are stimulating the muscles enough with the training.. recommit yourself and put in the work, and results will come to you

take amino acids and creatine (on hour before working out and directly after working out),if you eat a lot of fast food then take hydroxycut(capsules) or ripped fuel from twin lab company..see the result in 4 weeks
