How long to cook a 7 oz sirloin on a George Foreman grill?

I have a 7 oz sirloin that I want cooked rare. I don’t have a traditional grill, so I am wrapping it in foil and cooking it on my George Foreman grill. So anyhow, I was wondering how long I should cook it for to get it rare.

Do not wrap in foil. Cook on the grill 10 to 12 minutes for rare.

There’s no set time, it’s all on how you cook it. But to tell when steak is rare, follow this guideline:

Touch the tips of your index finger and thumb on your left hand. Now, feel the inside fleshy part of your thumb where that “thumb muscle” is. This is how rare steak will feel when on the grill.

Touch the tips of your middle finger and thumb on your left hand. The fleshy part will now get tougher, and is how medium steak will feel on the grill.

Touch the tip of your ring finger and the tip of your thumb on your left hand. The fleshy part gets tougher again, and is how medium-well steak will feel on the grill.

Touch the tips of your pinky finger and thumb on your left hand. The fleshy part is now how well-done steak will feel on the grill.

Cooking steak is really all about feeling it with your finger to find out what stage it’s at.

Also, if you have a thermometer:

    RARE: 125 degrees
    MEDIUM-RARE: 130-135 degrees
    MEDIUM: 140-145 degrees
    MEDIUM-WELL: 150-155 degrees
    WELL DONE: 160 degrees

The temperatures correspond to the internal temperature of the meat.

Don’t wrap it in foil! Put it on for 5 minutes, then season & salt both sides to taste. Leave it in for another 8 minutes, and you’re good to go!
