What’s the best recipe to use to make salt dough?

I’m looking to make some salt dough (or something similar) and am wondering what the best “recipe” is. I will be using it to make Christmas Tree decorations. Thank you.

Two tablespoons of oil, 1 cup flour, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup salt, 2 teaspoons of cream of tarter. Heat until it foams a ball. If you want to make it a color add food coloring before heating.

Well, all you have to do is combine a cup of flour, a cup of salt, and half a cup of water. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until smooth. I have done this before and It is perfect to shape iinto candy canes, snowmen, and so much more. Anyways, when you are done stiring the mixture divide it into however many things you want to do and then shape them. Put them in the microwave for 20-30 second intervals until the dough is fairly firm. When they are done cooling, because they can get very hot, you can use fine point permanent markers to color and decorate them.
