    I often wondered the exact same thing… I suppose in reality, some farmer dude who raised cows for meat, knew that baby mammels drink milk from mothers.. so maybe his wife had some condition that prevented her from nursing her babies, so the farmer tried to milk his cows to feed his own baby and maybe tasted it to see if it was good or not.. who knows…

    Likely started with goats/sheep, then carried over to other mammals since they put some basic pieces together to understand that they produced the liquid food, milk. Goat cheese/milk has likely been consumed for a few hundred/thousand years before cows milk in most parts of the world.
