I make a cranberry compote every year. Basically, just take a bag of fresh cranberries, boil them in a little bit of water and sugar to taste (it will probably take more than a cup, as cranberries are very tart). I also add some orange juice and a piece of orange zest. Boil until the berries pop and the juice thickens. Stir in walnuts or mandarin oranges if you like.

It doesn’t get any easier than Honey Baked Ham or more delicious.
You can pick up some great side dishes there and use that valuable time making construction paper finger turkeys with the kids.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

I make great mashed potatoes. I don’t have measurements, I just make to taste. I bake the potato’s until soft. Remove the peels and put them in a casserole dish. Add about a Tbsp of milk, a small package of cream cheese, about 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, seasoned salt, about a tsp of horseradish. I mash and blend it with a large fork. If they are to thick add a TINY bit more milk. Put them back in the oven until they lightly brown on top.

I am not trying to be funny, but have you thought about taking a few cans of cranberry sauce? If you think that, that is to cheap, than what about that and the rolls? Tell the family that you will bring those and not to buy or make the rolls. Or both of them and the wine , pop or whatever it is that you all prefer to drink?
Than there is sweet potato pies. Sweet potato pies are easy to make. Buy the dough that is all ready made up at the store, bake some sweet potatoes, Mix and add ingredients, pour into the already made pie shells that you put in the oven for a few minutes ahead, and take those.
It’s according to what your family prefer.

My family is so large, that we end up with a wide range of side dishes. Someone always brings deviled eggs, there’s rolls, and cranberry sauce from fresh berries is easy to fix.

Texas Candied Yams

Boil yams in skins until about half done.
Drain water from yams, remove skins, and cut in cubes.
