Are there psychiatrists in Austin who take medicare?
I am extremely frustrated because of the lack of psychiatrists who are accepting new medicare patients. And trying to get my finances together to leave. I figured asking here wouldn’t hurt. I’ve been without meds that I desperately need for over six months and been very sick. The government clinics here are atrocious and I refuse to go to them when half the time the doctors do not even show up after having waited 5 hours to see them.

How about calling your Medicare plan and ask for names of psychiatrists. Otherwise you will just have to call around to all of them. I dont think it is any different elsewhere. You can pay cash directly to a psychiatrist and see anyone you want for full price. Medicare is a subsidy to you but you dont have to use it.

Hi,
My husband had the same problem a few years ago, and our only option was to find something he could do to make enough money to go on his own. We did a lot of research and what we found I have put on a review page. If you get a chance take a look. Maybe it could help you also. Good luck and best wishes.
