my fridge is making a loud humming noise. what is it and how do i fix it?
its louder than the normal hum that happens when its cooling. the fridge and freezer still feel like they are the same temp as normal. it is a fairly older model, but ive not had any problems with it before.

it is probably the compressor. making this noise. it is possible that it will still run for awhile while making this noise.

You might need to vacuum underneath and vacuum the vents on the back of the fridge. Our fridge hummed for months even though I vacuumed it several times. One day the humming just stopped. No idea why.

The fan might be rubbing on something. Pull the fridge out and investigate. While it’s out, clean it with a vacuum to get the dust out of it.
