The maturity level of the person.
Each of those emotions suggests an external force that is triggering their ire. How the person handles it is the best gauge of their maturity.

Angry, mad, cross all mean the same thing, basically. But angry is the highest level out of all 3.
Furious is being so so angry and pissed off to the highest possible level.
Annoyed is when you aren’t happy with something/someone and you are stressed but not pissed off or angry.
Hope this helps 🙂

Annoyance is an unpleasant mental state that is characterized by such effects as irritation and distraction from one’s conscious thinking. It can lead to emotions such as frustration and anger. The property of being easily annoyed is called petulance, and something which annoys is called a nuisance. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&defl=en&q=define:annoyed&sa=X&ei=vZs-TZHvJcP_lgfjwcicAw&sqi=2&ved=0CBMQkAE
Being annoyed can lead to anger. Furious means you are past angry and livid. Mad means angry but less than furious, also mad can mean crazy “I had a mad idea.” “That man is mad, I say.”
I get cross with my children at times Cross: Angry and annoyed at the same time.
Many others for cross http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cross
