Will a netbook operate using my wireless router here at home? Is broadband required if WiFi is available?
It will not be my main computer. There is WiFi available most places that I want to use it. Would I still have to subscribe to a mobile broadband provider?

If you are away from your home base station/router, then yes you can find wifi in many public places now, but most of them require a subscription of some sort.
You can get 3G coverage from a mobile broadband provider like Verizon for access anywhere but it can be pricey.

If your netbook has wifi conectivity then no need for 3g unless you want acces ewverywhere.
SO wifi = internet at some places = free in many places, maybe you have at home already
3g = internet most places = monthly subscription of like aproximately 50-70 USD
theres some good netbooks for like 199 at microcenter

If you can pick up a wifi signal then you don’t need broadband or a subscription, if you have the security key or its unencrypted.
you may be able to pick up a neighbours wifi and use theirs (with their permission and security key) at home
there is often wifi at mcdonalds and pubs when out and about.

Yep ….I have a Samsung nc 10 and its wicked …it will pick up your home id however you should have that protected so to enable net-book you will need the mac code from wi fi station in the home …as for out and about yes it will pick up bt open zone etc….
