If I get free anti-virus software on my laptop, should I uninstall my McAfee Free Trial software?
I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 17 laptop and it cam with a free 30 trial of McAfee anti-virus software. Since I don’t want to pay for the software when the trial runs out, I’m planning on getting free software online. When I do, should I uninstall McAfee from my computer? Also, what’s the best free anti-virus and anti-spyware software I can get?

Yes, you should uninstall McAfee. Running more than one anti-virus programs can cause serious system conflicts and leave your system LESS protected. Not to mention it will cause serious system performance issues.
The best free anti-virus available is Avira or Avast! The best free anti-spyware you can get is Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware. Good luck mate!

If you won’t use McAfee after the trial then yeah uninstall it, it’d just be taking up space.
I would say getting AVG Free, you have an optional upgrade choice but I haven’t and it works fine for me.

Spybot Search and Destroy is free, it’s a great program as well.

Last I would say AdAware, just like AVG it has an optional upgrade choice, but it works fine without the upgrade.

You definitely have to remove it before installing another antivirus program.
I use Avira and SuperAntiSpyware and haven’t had any infections.
Both are highly rated and both are free.

Uninstall it, otherwise your system will most likely start crashing when you install a new anti-virus. The best free anti-virus is AVG Free, installed with ThreatFire. Free anti-spyware would probably be either Ad-Aware Free or SuperAntiSpyware. MalwareBytes is another free anti-malware.

Hi
You definitely need to remove McAfee first or it can cause some tricky problems.
http://www.freebugfix.com has a few good free antivirus programs in it’s list. I use AVG and it works very well.
