Healthiest dressing to add to a salad?

Good old fashioned oil and vinegar?

What about just lemon juice?
Any other suggestions?

Lemon juice salt and pepper is lower in calories than oil and vinegar. But you can cut down on fat in classical vinegrettes by substituting yogurt for the oil. The dressing will cling to the leaves without fat.

This is the famous “Green Goddess Dressing”

    1 cup mayonnaise
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1/4 cup chopped parsley
2 tbsp. finely chopped green onion (scallions)
2 tbsp. tarragon vinegar or lemon juice
    1 tbsp. tarragon leaves; crushed
    3 anchovey fillets; minced
    1 clove garlic; minced
    Milk

In small bowl, combine all ingredients (except milk); mix well. Thin with milk to desired consistency. Cover; refrigerate until serving time. Serve on tossed greens, chilled vegetables or cold seafood and poultry.
(NOTE: To use as a dip, omit milk)

for me i think the healthiest and lightest dressing would be oil and vinegar, i just have that on my salad. I don’t usually use ranch or any of those, although the italian is alright. i’d just stick with oil and vinegar.

They have this stuff that you spray on now. That is probably the lowest calories, but it is not necessarily the “healthiest.”

I like Balsamic vinegar on a salad…you can mix this with some olive oil, add some garlic powder, a little sea salt and course black pepper mix it really good…and you have a great tasting dressing!
