Can you learn to play guitar and sing at the same time?

Everything I try to sing (ha!) and play guitar at the same time I either mess up the guitar which I can usually play perfectly or sing the song to the tune of the guitar.

It’s OK with like Iron Man by Black Sabbath as the guitar is the same tune and rhythm as the tune of the song.

Can you learn and how?

sure u can learn, but i dont know how. just look at the beatles. they ALL played an instrument and sang, and the guitar rythym was different from the song (most of the time)

A trick I use is to play and lip sync
the lyrics or sing and play a air guitar
    (or leave the guitar unplugged)
this to previous recording of the
song pick out certain notes either
guitar or lyics to give yourself a guide
line to when to sing or play
    good luck

illnung has a good point. It just takes practice. You have to get really familiar with the song and know how the rhythms of the two sections intertwine. It will be easier once you know the guitar part like the back of your hand and don’t have to think too much about playing it. That way you can focus on singing while your hand does the guitar riff “on its own” in a sense.

Practice as much as you can and eventually get much smoother. Have confidence.
