How long does it takes for you to learn guitar?
Like able to strum and sing along without a pause.
I tried to learn guitar and seems like alot of people think it’s easy. But i have difficulties playing while singing. 🙁 Is this normal? What should i do to improve? What are the basics a beginner should learn before jumping to the advance of singing and strumming together?

I have been playing for a few months now and I still can’t sing along without having to pause inbetween. Jus keep doing what you love because your passion for it will pay off in the end. (:

It’s just a matter of practice. You have to learn the chords well enough that you make them and change them automatically while you’re singing. This is why you start with very simple (stupid) 2-chord songs like Skip to my Lou and Ten Little Indians.
Also it’s easier in keys like A or D, so you don’t have to struggle with the dreaded F chord. F isn’t really hard, but it takes some concentration.
Just keep plugging away, you’ll get it. It’s not as hard as it might seem at first, so don’t get discouraged.

I’ve been playing for almost 2 years now and I’m pretty good at playing.. But when I try to sing, I have a hard time keeping the rhythm. I think that you should just keep practicing until you get it. Everyday, take like 30-45 minutes singing along, and eventually you’ll get better.

It didn’t take me that long to learn how to play and sing at the same time, but I practiced for almost the whole day when I first got my guitar. If you already have a sense of rhythm, it shouldn’t be that hard. What I did was I basically practiced the strum pattern without singing until my right hand moved naturally to the beat. Then, I just added in my voice. 🙂

Chord memorization is a key, practice it until you feel you are doing it with ease. Then start humming to the sound and next sing to it. but it will be hard at first. For me it took me a day to feel comfortable with it.
it would be also a lot easier if someone is teaching you personally. if not then a video or tutorials will make you progress faster.

It didn’t take me long. You just have to be determined.
