You mean like a model to start with? If you’re starting with acoustic it should be a classical one, because steel string/western acoustics are a lot harder to play as a beginner.
Also, you should at least pay the equivalent of 150 to 250 dollars or so to get a decent guitar, and no black acoustic guitars, because their paint hides bad woods! The better the wood on your guitar, and the more of it is solid, the better it sounds.

Have that in mind when you buy one.

An acoustic guitar is a great starting point. Don’t worry about brands in the beginning. You want to find a good moderately priced one that holds tune, has a good set up with no deadspots in the neck and has good intonation. If you don’t know what to look for in a guitar see if you can find a friend or family member that knows what to look for. If that isn’t possible, stay away from used and pawnshop intruments. I’d recommend a reputable dealer that can help steer you the right way.

I strongly recommend you find a good teacher also in the beginning. Lessons may not be something you can afford long term but that’s the best way to start. Learning proper techniques in the beginning can go along way in helping you pick the instrument up faster. If you don’t know what you’re doing you may end up handicapping yourself initially with bad techniques. There are lots of great websites and youtube videos for learning songs. Stay away from most celebrity videos that they sell at Guitar Center. While some have value, an awful lot of those really don’t have much substance. The Guitar For Dummies book includes a CD and a lot of good advice for picking out a guitar and teaching you the basics. Being able to hear what scales, chords, etc are supposed to sound like is a big help. Books that don’t provide audio examples are not much help when you start off. Good luck.

Well what I started w/ was a First Act, but it would probably be best to get a flamenco guitar instead. Getting private guitar lessons also really help because the attention is all on you and you can ask questions at anytime. I have been playing for about 3 years now, It’s not that much but I’ve learned a lot.
