I heard that you can use the rubber-band treatment. Simply put a rubber band around your wrist and whenever you want a smoke, snap the band. You’ll begin to associate the cravings with pain. Also are the patch, pills, and counseling. Another is weening off the smokes slowly.

You say that your friend loves to smoke. If your friend does not want to quit, then nothing will work. As her friend, I hope you support her in whatever she chooses, to smoke or quit. Constantly making comments on why she should quit only increases the desire to continue, if only out of rebelion or principle. I’m a smoker, and in this anti-smoking society, I’ve found people can be really cruel with their judgemental statements and usually are very offensive. Many non-smokers treat a smoker almost as a second class citizen If you don’t smoke, GREAT. If your friend does, GREAT. It’s a legal choice for your friend to make. If you consider yourself a friend, then be one and accept the choices and differences of your friend.

My friends quit smoking by just stopping. this worked for them, but it makes some people go crazy. Try patches. They worked for my cousin.

Historically people have stopped smoking by two methods: ‘cold turkey’ or death.
