Gave up smoking when I found out I was pregnant. If you’re trying to get pregnant then it’s best to quit now.

Since I was not trying to conceive, I didn’t stop till after I found out. Some people stop before, some stop soon as they find out, some stop a little later since it can be difficult to quit. It really depends on the person.

I gave it up right away as it started to make me very sick!

Yes, both times. Unfortunately those were the only times I was successful at staying quit for any period of time. Every time I wanted a cig I’d just think of what it was doing to the baby and what it would be like being the parent of a child with lifelong health issues that were directly my fault.

my sons girlfriend smoked during her pregnancy, and now she wonders if asthma runs in our family….
HELLO – didn’t she listen to my son when he asked to to quit… people that smoke while pregnant might have a child with asthma.

Before. You want your baby to be as healthy as possible from conception, so quit now – bear in mind it may take you a while to really give up.

I thought I was going to quit rigt away but with my luck I was having alot of stress at the time so I did not quit right away and to be honest my doctor told me not to quit so fast so i quit at about 10 weeks and then after that I did not have any for a long time there was a death in my family and i smoked again for about 2 weeks and now I am done again! good luck

I made steps to quit smoking as soon as I found out I was pregnant. For me it was a process of like two weeks…. I gave up one cigarette per day and although this is obviously NOT the BEST way to do it – it’s what worked for me. I gave up the cigarettes mostly because I knew I wanted what was best for my baby and secondly because they made me very sick which I know is a blessing that has helped me live healthier for the rest of my life and I don’t have to deal with the stigma of living with a nasty habit that I have to explain to my kids and friends for the rest of my life. All I can say is I know it’s doable – it’s one of the best decisions I ever made – Good luck in quitting!

Im proud to say that when I was pregnant with my Son I quit, but the second he was born I started up again 🙁 then as he got older, and he could actually ‘watch’ me smoke in the garden or at the back door – where you think it wont harm them (tut) I just thought ‘what am I doing?!’ I quit on the 20th Sept 2007 and havent looked back since, I am now 26 weeks pregnant – and have been through alot of stress recently too, so im pretty sure thats me done with the ciggies now! good luck to all those who are trying or wanting to quit – i got lucky, i just stopped, after around 15 years of smoking (I started at the age of 11 !) something just clicked inside and that was that – i havent looked back. I know it can be a real hard time for some. I personally dont believe in patches and gums etc, if you really want to quit you will no matter what – so dont waste your money on things that supposedl help – im sure its all in the mind.. although i could be wrong – good luck !

No I did not but to be fair I was 6 and 1/2 mths pregnant before I even knew it so when I did find out and the shock wore off I cut way back like from a pack a day to only 3 or 4 some days less. When I had my son he was a good size at 8 lbs and 6 ozs and very healthy and has been the best baby not a lot of crying or sickness just a good all around kid.

you need to give it up as soon as u get pregnant. before is better but as long as you dont smoke when your pregnant you should be okay.

My Dr. told me not to quit. Quitting causes stress and will harm the
baby. So I cut back to 5-7 a day. The result. 3 pregnancies, 3 big
and healthy babies. All because I listened to my Dr. His advice
    benefited my children.
